Thirty ALS Learners Gain Key Digital Skills Through BU-HALINA Program

Thirty (30) learners from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) under the Schools Division of Baliwag City officially graduated from the Computer Literacy Program today, March 14, 2026, in a collaborative effort between Baliuag University and the Zonta Club of Baliuag. The program, held at the university’s Bahay na Bato, featured three consecutive Saturday training sessions designed to equip participants with essential digital skills. This initiative was spearheaded by the College of Information and Technology Education.

The graduation ceremony was graced by Dr. Patricia B. Lagunda, President of Baliuag University; Dr. Flordeliza A. Castro, Dean; SDS Rowena Tizon-Quiambao, Sir Alvin Juan Hernandez, Sir Michael Manlapaz Yumul, and Ma’am Donna Andrea Galvez Lopez from the Schools Division Office of the City of Baliwag; and Dr. Loretta B. Cabrera from the Zonta Club of Baliuag who spoke on behalf of Zonta Club of Baliuag President Jonnah N. Estrella. Their presence underscored the critical role of collaboration among academic institutions, the local education sector, and civic organizations in advancing technical education and promoting digital literacy in the community.

 

The program aimed to empower ALS learners to keep pace with rapid technological developments and create pathways for further education and employment. It is part of Baliuag University’s broader outreach initiatives contributing to the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

 

The culminating activity also featured interactive sessions in the afternoon on financial literacy, led by the Graduate Studies Department, and digital marketing, facilitated by the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), providing participants with practical skills to thrive in today’s digital economy.
