A Centennial Milestone: BU College of Law Inauguration

Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Hon. Francis H. Jardeleza (Ret.) officially opened the facility, alongside Legal Education Board Commissioner Lorenzo R. Reyes. The blessing was officiated by Reverend Monsignor Narciso S. Sampana, parish priest of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Augustine in Baliwag City.

For decades, BU has built a legacy of excellence across disciplines such as Nursing, Engineering, Business, Education, IT, and the Liberal Arts. The launch of the College of Law signals a new chapter—one committed to producing competent, ethical lawyers with a strong sense of public service.

BU President Dr. Patricia B. Lagunda called the occasion “a tribute to our heritage and a bold step towards a radiant future,” stressing the urgent need for principled and transformative legal education. BU Board Chair Atty. Asteya M. Santiago emphasized the school’s role in advancing human rights, constitutional protections, and economic justice.

Founding Dean Enrique V. Dela Cruz highlighted the integration of modern technology with a firm ethical foundation, preparing graduates to address real-world challenges. Commissioner Voltaire G. San Pedro underscored that legal education must help make justice more accessible by simplifying complex laws for the public.

With the College of Law now operational, BU reaffirms its century-old mission of community service and social impact—training a new generation of lawyers dedicated to upholding justice and contributing meaningfully to national development.
