Our Programs

Education

Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd)

This program prepares prospective elementary school teachers who are highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in content and pedagogy for elementary education.

Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd)

This program prepares prospective high school teachers in theory and practice of secondary teaching. The program equips prospective secondary education teachers with the adequate and relevant competencies to teach in their chosen area of specialization/major in secondary level.

Certificate in Teacher Education (CTE)

The CTE program intends to equip non-educational professionals with the knowledge and skills related to the Teaching-Learning process necessary to take the LET and to qualify themselves to competently teach. 

Career Opportunities: Work as a teacher, school administrator, guidance or teacher counselor, superintendent, or college faculty, among others. Outside the classroom, be a private tutor, trainer, coordinator, resource person, or community adviser.

 

Library Information Science

Bachelor of Library Information Science (BLIS)

The BLIS program equips prospective library and information professionals with the essential knowledge, competencies and values necessary for the effective provision and delivery of library information services, and the systematic organization, conservation, preservation and restoration of books, historical and cultural documents, and other intellectual properties.

Career Opportunities: BLIS graduates may become librarians in various areas – school, acquisitions, corporate, law, medical; or hold positions as teacher-librarians or head librarians, as well as become archivists, bibliographers, documentarists, information specialists, researchers, electronic resource managers, or library science faculty members.

 

Psychology 

Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSPsy) 

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology program covers the major theories and concepts in psychology, and trains students in psychological research and application. As a pre-med course, BSPsy meets the requisites for admission to medical school.  It emphasizes science, research analysis, and behavioral and mental processes.  Major areas of interest under this discipline include social, experimental, abnormal, industrial, clinical and child psychology. 

Career Paths/Related Careers: As a BS Psychology graduate, you can become a clinical psychologist, researcher, preschool teacher, special education teacher, developmental psychologist, or behavioral tutor for children with special needs.  Be ready to pursue a medical degree later on.

 

Social Work

Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW)

The BSSW program prepares students for generalist social work practice. Professional education in social work requires: a) acquiring and applying knowledge, attitudes, values and skills in; b) enhancing the social functioning of individuals, families, groups, and communities; c) linking people with needed resources; d) improving the operation of social service delivery networks; and, e) promoting social justice through organizing and advocacy.

Career Opportunities: As a BSSW graduate, you can become a case manager, social welfare and development officer in local government units, researcher in social welfare agencies, social work counselor, community organizer, officer for program/project development and management, social agency manager, policy/legislative advocacy officer, teacher, and trainer.

Stellar Board Exam Performance

Through the years, the performance of our graduates in the licensure examinations for teachers, librarians and social workers has consistently exceeded national standards. In the board exam for librarians we have produced top notchers and board placers- a 2nd placer in 2018, 3rd placer in 2016, 4th placer in 2007, 6th placer in 2019, and 10th placer in 2000.

Majority of the teachers, librarians and social workers within the province of Bulacan and partly in neighboring Pampanga are proud graduates of the BU College of Education and Human Development. Some graduates even occupy positions in learning institutions and well-known organizations here and abroad.

Proven Quality 

To be an accredited program means to be recognized as a provider of quality education among colleges and universities not only in the region, but in the country. It is an acknowledged indicator of a higher level of quality and excellence, over and above minimum requirements of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

In 2008, the College was recognized as a Center of Training by the Department of Education for its Certificate and In-Service Training (INSET) programs.

In 2010, the BEEd program was the first of its kind in the entire country to be granted Level IV Accredited Status by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). It has also been certified by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP).

The BSEd program also became the first BSEd program granted Level IV Accredited Status in Region III, and second in the entire Philippines.

In 2017, the BS Psychology program was granted Level 2 Accredited Status and in 2022, the BLIS program was granted Level 1 Accredited Status.

Local and International Practicum Opportunities

Partnerships with institutions abroad bolster further learning and training at a global level. BU’s partnership with Chumphon Sueska School, Anuban Chuleekorn, and Prempracha Wattana School in Thailand gives students the opportunity to complete their OJT or practice teaching in a different setting.

In 2016, the BLIS Department began sending qualified student-trainees to Binus University in Jakarta, Indonesia.
