Our Programs

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

The BSN program develops professional nurses who can assume entry-level

positions and collaborate with other healthcare providers both in hospital and community settings. BSN students are prepared to become competent, responsible, conscientious, caring, and compassionate, even under challenging situations.

The program provides a rigorous and well-planned curriculum of instructional activities and related learning experiences (RLE) to develop the competencies of a beginning nurse who provides safe and holistic care to healthy and at-risk individuals, families, population groups, and the community. The BSN program also focuses on the promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness, alleviation of suffering, and provision of end-of-life care.

A graduate of BSN who qualifies and passes the Nurse Licensure Exam (NCE) is the called a Registered Nurse. 

Career Paths/Related Careers: With nursing being a versatile profession, there are limitless opportunities. Nurses are in high demand in various sectors of the health and health-related industries.

1.    As a Hospital Nurse, you can work in various capacities, such as: Staff nurse, Head/Senior nurse, Nurse manager, Nurse supervisor, Chief nurse, and Nursing Service Director; and in diverse specialties in the hospital, such as: Emergency Room Nurse, intensive care unit nurse, critical care nurse, renal/dialysis nurse, emergency room nurse, Operating Room Nurse, NICU Nurse, Pediatric Nurse, Maternal Care Nurse, Gerontology Nurse, Mental Health and Psychiatric Nurse and Telehealth Nurse among others.

2.    As a Nurse Educator, you can take academic leadership roles as the Dean, Program Head, Academic, or Clinical coordinator. You can also serve as a Faculty member, Clinical Instructor, and as Faculty researcher.

3.    As a Community Health/Public Health Nurse, you can be a Health Educator, Home Care Nurse, School Nurse. Other related careers include Company Nurse, Private-duty Nurse, Occupational Health Nurse.

4.    In other fields and services, you can also become a Researcher, Nurse/Health Informatics, Nurse Entrepreneur, Flight Nurse, Military Nurse and Forensic Nurse.  systems and equipment, computer and communication systems, devices, goods and services, and processes.

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT)

BSMT is a four-year program consisting of general education and professional courses that provide you with quality training to develop inter-personal skills, leadership qualities, and ethical values, and to become competent, responsible, competitive, and committed in serving patients in a healthcare delivery system.

BSMT students are expected to demonstrate technical competence in the performance of clinical laboratory tests for the collection, preservation, and analysis of specimens such as blood, urine, cells, and tissues. MedTech students also learn the preparation of reagents (compounds or substances added to a specimen to create a chemical reaction) and stains (a discoloration made by a foreign matter). You can also learn how to use modern equipment, instruments, and scientific methods to provide accurate laboratory results.

BSMT students are introduced to the structure of clinical laboratory and pathology services. It equips you with the knowledge and skills in accurately performing laboratory procedures needed to help physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

BSMT students are acquainted with professional practice issues including ethical practices in the performance of medical technology procedures, principles of data security and patient confidentiality, and laboratory safety measures.

BSMT Students undergo an internship program during their 4th year. You will get to experience being assigned to different Medical laboratory sections within hospitals or other facilities.

Career Paths/ Related Careers: Upon passing the Licensure Exam, as a Medical Technologist, you can be biochemists bacteriologists blood bank technologist, clinical pathologist, histologist, microbiologist, parasitologist, diagnostic molecular scientist, educator, public health practitioner, diagnostic product specialist, medical research assistant, forensic crime lab analyst, medical  laboratory manager, medical equipment sales representative, medical technician, chief medical technologist, or medical researcher.

A graduate of BSMT who passes the Medical Technology Licensure Examination (MTLE) is then called Registered Medical Technologists (RMT).

 

Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND)

BSND is a four-year degree program consisting of general education subjects and professional courses designed to equip students with the knowledge, and skills in the three (3) areas of nutrition, namely: hospital dietetics, community nutrition (public health), and food service. The program promotes roles in promoting human well-being related to nutritional care and concerns.

Throughout the program, BSND students are prepared to become responsible, conscientious, creative, resourceful, competent, research-oriented, and communicative. You will learn to respond to the health needs of your patients and clients, both in clinical and community settings.

BSND also enriches your academic and clinical knowledge with practicum experiences in all the three areas of nutrition and dietetics.

In addition, you will be taught the principles and procedures in formulating nutritional plans/programs for the therapy of patients, techniques and management of food production, and the food service cycle, namely: menu planning, purchasing, receiving, storage and issuance, pre-preparation, production, merchandising and service, food safety, sanitation, and cost control.

A graduate of BSND who passes the Nutritionist-Dietitian Licensure Examination is then called a Registered Nutritionist-Dietitian (RND). 

Career Paths/Related Careers: BSND graduates are qualified to take the board exam for Nutritionist Dietitians. Licensed RNDs can become nutritionist-dietitians in various areas (e.g., clinical, gerontological, neonatal, sports and fitness dietitians), therapeutic nutritionist-dietitian, research nutritionist-dietitian, teaching nutritionist-dietician, clinical dietician, public health nutritionist-dietician, dietary director, chief nutrition dietician.

You can also pursue careers in the food service industry, research, quality control, or product development, or become wellness or weight loss, consultants. New BSND graduates can also work in the food service industry or in healthcare sales.

Outstanding Board Examination Records

For the past years, a 100 % passing in the Nurse Licensure Examinations has been maintained by the college.

In the last Nurse Licensure Examination in 2023, the Baliuag University College of Nursing was awarded as Top Ten Performing Nursing Schools among Philippine Participating Schools.

BU’s first batch of BS Medical Technology (Class 2022) registered a 100 % passing rate in March 2023 Medical Technology Licensure Examination. 

External and International Linkages

Baliuag University and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the University Hospital Bonn (UKB) in Bonn, Germany, has an ongoing Global Skills Partnership project that provides special training to nursing students to qualify to work in Germany after graduation and passing the NLE.

This also includes specialized training in German theoretical and practical skills and German language training at no cost to the participating students including the Pre-deployment, Visa Processing process, Pre-departure Orientation and arrangements for safe travel to Germany.

BU -GIZ Global skills project is open to qualified Third Year BS Nursing students.

Quality Instruction is enriched by state-of-the-art laboratories, and technologically advanced research facilities; fully air-conditioned classrooms; premier Nursing Arts Laboratories with training models, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ,well equipped Laboratory and Science Laboratories for Medical Technologist and Nutrition-Dietetics, with fully air-conditioned library, with computerized database, updated reference collections and audio-visual materials; and an internet center for research and instructional purposes.  

IT Integration and Technology Tools

With technology revolutionizing how jobs are done, our nursing and medical technologist students are equipped with Information Technology Training, with special focus on nursing and health-allied informatics.

Communication Training

Whether you choose to practice here in the Philippines or abroad, the ability to communicate is critical. We offer an advanced conversational English Training course, in collaboration with international language instruction provider, BERLITZ, Language International.

We also promote out-of-the-classroom learning by encouraging our students to participate in national conventions and conferences, as well as conducting and participating in exhibitions both locally and nationally.

Quality, Comprehensive Instruction

For nearly 48 years, BU has been offering quality instruction that enhances knowledge and skills and develops your total personality to become globally competitive and caring professional nurses.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program was granted Level IV First Re-Accreditation status after the last visit of the PACUCCOA Accreditors in November 2021.

Through the collaboration of our highly qualified and competent Dean and Faculty members, we continuously evaluate our program offerings and improve instruction to provide quality nursing, medical technology, and nutrition-dietetics education.

Into our curriculum, we integrate special training programs like Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Disaster Risk Reduction Management, and Primary Health Care utilizing the HRDP-COPAR Model. Essential Intrapartum Newborn Care (EINC), and Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI).

We also have a Related Learning Experiences (RLE) and Clinical Internship program that is thoroughly planned, methodically implemented, and closely supervised by competent clinical instructors so that our students may acquire the best nursing, medical technology and nutrition and dietetics skills, knowledge, attitude, and values, utilizing updated modules and the latest training models.

Other Opportunities for Learning

Aside from core instructions, we also offer leadership training and teambuilding activities to ensure holistic nursing and allied health sciences education. Student Organizations and activities provide opportunities for students to further develop their organizational, interpersonal, collaborative and creative skills.
